WHAT IF THERE REALLY IS A UNIVERSAL UNIX DATABASE THAT UNIFIES YOUR ENTIRE ENTERPRISE? And what if everything we say about it is true. Wouldn't it be worth taking a look just to make sure. 1BASE Solution-Centralized Control with Decentralized Flexibility 1BASE Computer has designed and developed a database which can maintain your data anywhere in your Enterprise-local and remote. So, any user, any place, any time, can access and update the same information interactively. Your data is instantly available around the clock for any authorized user. 1BASE Building Blocks Form the Foundation The secret lies in the 1BASE Building Block-the nuts and bolts of the database engine itself. The 1BASE Building Block is represented by a 16-bit address. Depending upon the value of the first bit, this can be either: · representation of the information number as 15-bit. · representation of 2 bytes. The 1BASE Information Field is constructed by one information number block, followed by one or more blocks representing pairs of bytes. A 1BASE record is constructed by one or more different 1BASE Information Fields, with a special block representing the record start, and another defining the record end. Records within records are constructed by a special subrecord-s tart, defining a new record within a record; type of subrecord; and normal 1BASE fields thereafter. Any 1BASE field can represent ASCII information as numbers, codes or text information. Any field can be indexed-within the standard code length for a coded fieldand an empty field does not take up space. All application programming is done once and for all time for one field, which can then be combined in any way. And that's it. Sounds simple? It is. But this simple concept will allow you to achieve total integration of information in any organization, no matter how complex. 1BASE - A Small Company with Big Ideas 1BASE is ready to put our solution to work in your company now. Obviously, we supply the software-that's called 1BASE, too-and we can even supply the hardware. It's all part of a program we call 1BASE Valhalla-the safe heaven where your data will live forever. This customized software, hardware and networking solution is delivered end-user ready. 1BASE-the integrated 90Mhz Pentium processor PCI/EISA server with built-in redundant power supplies-anchors the hardware end for smaller installations. With 2.1GB hard drives and a "Fast and Wide" SCSI interface, Odin is fully capable of supporting 200-300 users. With 1BASE steering the information there is literally no limit to the size of the networks you can build-and still work as one. Taking advantage of 1BASE Valhalla includes a full turnkey solution. We can provide the installation ourselves, freeing up valuable MIS capacity. 1BASE Development Concept 1BASE user programs are all created via one, single programming language. The database is automatically maintained by the user application, eliminating the usual requirement to administer the database structure. A 1BASE field is called and maintained from user programs. Fields are defined and documented on-line with user access via a HELP key. User applications and records are called from an on-line menu program which, itself, is an application, allowing users to jump directly to the relevant record. 1BASE programs are divided in 1BASE Building Blocks defined per 1BASE field. User programs are created by defining any combination of 1BASE fields and linking them together into 1BASE user programs. In fact, we act as your MIS department and save you the expense of set up, servicing and overheads. We'll design, recommend and implement these UNIXbased solutions and plan and design your in-house cabling system, too. Our Terms are Agreeable And our terms for all this? We'd need to discuss the details, but, any agreement would be based on: one price to start, and one monthly fixed price for five to fifty years to cover all your end-user needs. That fixed price would buy you hardware and software maintenance; user support; MIS personnel and responsibility; design and coding of relevant end-user applications; personal training; computer equipment; terminals; and turnkey installations. We said we had some big ideas. And we meant it. Now we'd like to share them with you. We can provide: · One concept for an all-in-one information system to deliver any relevant management information for your company. · One database system with all the relevant fields indexed for fast access. Information can stay on-line forever with no significant decrease in performance. · One set of predefined information fields to operate and mix within relevant records in any combination required. And empty fields do not take up any space. · One minute to add new user fields, during run time. · One contact point to train your organization to use its custom-designed integrated information system. · One contact point for any and all questions. 1BASE-One totally integrated turnkey system using one universal Unix database that unifies your entire enterprise. We'd like to provide you with that one, seamless information access solution across every part of your operation. Now. So you can be doing it. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE 1BASE Transaction Log 1BASE is designed with the future in mind. A future where all UNIX machines will work as one, across your entire network. Thanks to the 1BASE Transaction Log the protocol that will govern the interactive transfer and updating of information throughout your entire enterprise. Tunneling Through the Super Information Highway It's now an accepted fact that UNIX machines are the perfect vehicle for transferring information to and from super information highways like Internet, via NFS and TCP/IP. That's never been the problem. The problem has been to make the databases sitting on these machines actually work like they were one, giant database. Which could be updated interactively. With a higher information yield. Smaller servers. Less disk storage. And lower maintenance. Giving users, and management alike, easier access to the information they need, at an efficiently economical cost. Lots of large database management companies have tried. And none have actually succeeded. Mostly, they have only been able to achieve efficient methods of file transfer. Developing smoother and more seamless ways to send and receive files from one section of the database users to another. Effective, but crude, because you still have to manually track those changes yourself. The 1BASE Transaction Log will be a much better solution because it governs the interactive transfer and updating of information. A Transaction Log that Gives You a Great Deal Once you have this totally integratable information, you need to move it around your system in a way that everyone can use it. And that's exactly where the 1BASE Transaction Log takes control. Whenever a user changes a record, a Transaction Log is created documenting the time of change; user; and which data has been changed. At this time, all subrecords are immediately assigned a unique line code within the record, and all changes are logged in a specially created set of fields which mirror each of the original fields-i.e. field #1 is mirrored by field #2001 and so on. When the user saves the record, a completely new transaction record is created. This new transaction record refers both to the old value in each field, and the new field value for the changed field. This process enables the 1BASE Transaction Log to achieve the following: · It established a log which can easily and economically move updates between multiple machines. · It documents all changes by any user. · It enables any user to track all changes forward and backward. Most importantly, it makes the tracking of record changes easy, and determines which fields are okay to update when these small and convenient information packages are loaded into other databases. Not only that, but the Transaction Log provides its own backup history of the record itself because it saves both the new and the old value for every updated field. It's the smoothest way to protect the past and make the future perfect. 1BASE Transaction Log-designed with the future in mind. Yours. |
